Tech Talk: Video is nothing more than a consecutive bunch of still images being flashed at you at about 30 fsp (frames per second). Until now, this kind of frame rate has been difficult if not impossible to achieve over the Internet.
It wasn't long ago, that 1 frame per second was the norm for Websites. Recently with better technology 5 or more frames per second became possible. This gave us moving pictures but very bumpy.
Then companies with avail to broadband connection could achieve up to 15 fps. Good but still bumpy. This then has been the recent state of the art.
Looking for better frame rates, I came across this server in the UK. Camstreams by name, that can deliver live 'streaming' video to your home computer from the Internet at 20 to 29 fps. (and it's Free)
'Like WOW have we now finally arrived? Cutting edge stuff to be sure! You be the judge. Now if the North American Internet providers were as good.
The interesting thing about this Webcam video, is that it originates from my back porch camera in Lagoon City Ontario, and in real time forwarded via the internet as a live stream of images to a server computer in the UK and then re-broadcasted on the Iinternet in real time to any computer at 30 frames per second (real Live Video).
Even the mighty Microsoft can't do this.
Watch the boats go by in real time. On the weekends there can be as many as 200 boats pass by.
This lagoon is the gateway to Lake Simcoe, Georgian Bay, The Trent Canal, or Caribbean for that matter.
